Living in a diverse paradise, Indonesia, has exposed me to a broad range of ethnic cultures and styles, which I use when I create my design. Flower petals, animals, mythological stories, existing batik patterns and fragments of traditional textiles all find their way into the contemporary batik patterns that I made. Mostly I am inspired by Bali. Bali is the most famous of Indonesia’s islands, blessed with natural beauty that also referred to as ‘the last paradise on earth’. It has a truly unique culture, perhaps due to its strong Hindu roots. Mythology, temples, people, and so many things are there stand still and stay in harmony even if the world around are changing. And here is my batik pattern! It all brings to my work and reflects my passion for modernity and respect for Indonesian culture.
